Mark N. Powell, B.Comm., C.A.

Mark graduated from McMaster University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and obtained his chartered accountant’s designation in 1976. After working for a national firm of chartered accountants for 13 years in Hamilton, Toronto and Mississauga, Mark joined Horne LLP in 1987 and became a partner in 1989.

Mark’s background has provided in depth knowledge and expertise in the areas of audit and accounting standards and issues. Mark is responsible for the firm’s quality control and staff development.

Mark’s service expertise includes auditing, accounting and business advisory services. Mark enjoys helping clients understand the financial aspects of their business and personal affairs and working with them to identify the issues and goals. He develops, explains and implements strategies to improve operations and minimize taxes. This includes assisting in start up operations and complex corporate reorganizations.

Mark was raised in Burlington and lives in Waterdown. Mark has served on the board of various non-profit organizations. He is currently the treasurer of Tourism Burlington Inc. and also provides a financial perspective and assistance to other non-profit organizations. Mark has coached youth soccer and hockey and referees youth soccer.
